note to teacher duha :)

dear teacher
please check my updates

pros and cons of online shopping (continued)

ADVANTAGES:
- Shopping is not limited to retail store hours. You can now shop anywhere and at anytime. This means that if your daily schedule doesn't allow for picking up house hold necessities or if you get the shopping bug at 12am; your shopping mall is now just one click away .
- Comparison shopping has been made easier due to online shopping. - Instead of driving around wasting gas or spending hours on the bus in travel time you can visit all the stores that you’re interested in at once. This eliminates time going from store to store to see what is available and at what price

- If you love knowing the latest styles, or having unique pieces then online shopping makes it easier to do so as well.

- Easier to find discounts on the sofa you’re looking for. Websites such as Ebay, Amazon and many other websites out there offer amazing prices on must have items. Online stores usually offer online specials as well, and there are multiple websites dedicated to sharing these deals with you.

DISADVANTAGES:

- You usually have to wait long periods of time to receive your items. Sometimes, this can take up to a month or longer if being shipped from overseas. There could be delays on the delivery and miscommunications.
- Shipping costs on your item can be extremely high in comparison to what you paid for the item, sometimes making the purchase not worth it.

- Sometimes looks can be deceiving. You don't get to test the product before you buy it. What might have looked beautiful to you in picture might not live up to your expectations once received. Then what?

- If it’s an online store that doesn’t have a local store in your area, returning the item can be a HUGE hassle. Make sure before you purchase online that you are clear on the stores return policies. Make sure that no matter how good the deal is that you have the option to return if need be.

- Another factor to remember about returns. You will have to pay the charge for shipping it back, repackaging, and stocking in most cases, unless it’s a manufacturing problem.

- People worry about fraud or theft with credit cards purchases. Make sure every website you shop from is security verified secure and protected and has this information displayed clearly on their website. Also, read the privacy policy on the website to see what they will do with your information. Do everything to ensure your safety while shopping online.  Make sure you are shopping from a reputable site. If something doesn’t feel right it probably isn’t.

ICT Case study

My ict case study is about a school nurse that has been affected by the modern technology and the developed use of ict. I will talk about her job functionality before and after the update.

Before, the nurse used a manual system that consisted of a notebook and a pen. She used to draw tables that contained names of the patients, their class, their illness or symptoms, and lastly the medicine used. The manual work was time consuming and in very often cases the data was lost.

After that, the nurse replaced her old, time consuming manual system with a new simplified system on the laptop. After interviewing her, she declared that the new system was easy, functional and accurate. The new system had new fields added, like and expert system that can help the nurse deal with rough cases, it also had a built-in memory and a code for each student and teacher in the school which contained a data-base about each student and their older records of being ill or if they visited the nurse.

With the help of technology, nursing just became better!!

The digital divide or information literacy

1-   Define the digital divide.

The term 'digital divide' describes the fact that the world can be divided into people who do and people who don't have access to - and the capability to use - modern information technology, such as the telephone, television, or the Internet.

2-   Identify the main effects of digital divide on society.

The digital divide causes a significant problem in many parts of the world especially those that are still struggling. Poorer countries do not benefit because they cannot afford the initial startup cost in order to invest in technology. The richer countries therefore have a competitive and economic advantage. This makes those without communication technology have limited access to power and influence.

3-   Explain a real case study on bridging the digital divide gap

School teachers used a manual system of filing information and marks about for their students. The work was time consuming and data where lost rottenly. Once introduced to modern technical devices that did the marks and all work easily and more efficiently, the digital divide gap was filled and a big development happened because of ict.

online services and health and safety

1- Identify the main health issues with online services.

Most commonly, the main health issues associated with online work are:
-Eye Strain.
-Repetitive Strain Injuries:
*Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
                                               *cubical Tunnel Syndrome.

All symptoms include strain in the hands/wrists, as well as reduction in eye sight. It is very complicated to cure these health issues, therefore, they should be prevented early.

2- Identify the main safety issues with online services.
 a good chair:
Since almost all the time spent in front of a computer is at a desk, the chair is all-important. It’s crucial to pick one out with proper support for both the upper and lower back. this may include a high-backed chair or a towel or pillow as low back support.

tools (keyboard and mouse):
Keyboards should be at elbow height. Regular sized keyboards may be too large for your child, forcing them to angle their wrists when typing,  They also make smaller mice for computers, or track ball types, which can be better for children’s limited motor skills. parents should move the keyboard or mouse on the workspace to a comfortable place, avoiding outstretched arms.

some time off!
breaks every 20-30 minutes are recommended,  to allow the body to stretch & also to give the eyes a rest. Anyone who has spent hours in front of a computer knows that the screen can cause damage your eyes, causing strained, tired eyes or even headaches. 3-5 minute breaks should be sufficient.
