Database

A database is a structured collection of data. The data are typically organized to model relevant aspects of reality (for example, the availability of rooms in hotels), in a way that supports processes requiring this information (for example, finding a hotel with vacancies).
The term database is correctly applied to the data and their supporting data structures, and not to the database management system. The database data collection with DBMS is called a database system.
advantages
It means all of the information is together.
The information can be portable if on a laptop.
The information is easy to access at any time.
It's more easily retrievable.
disadvantages
Database systems are complex, difficult, and time-consuming to design.
Initial training required for all programmers and users.
Suitable hardware and software start-up costs.
A longer running time for individual applications.

Bio-metrics

Bio metrics  refers to the identification of humans by their characteristics or traits. Bio metrics is used in computer science as a form of identification and access control. It is also used to identify individuals in groups that are under surveillance.

types of bio metric security devices :

               Bluetooth VS.  Wireless

The difference between Bluetooth and wireless is that Both are wireless, but their typical uses are totally different.

**Bluetooth typically operates on a weaker signal than Wi-Fi making it useful for close proximity connections such as wireless headsets or sending a picture between your phone and your computer.

** WI-Fi on the other hand operates at a stronger signal and the data transfer rate is higher making it more suitable for wider range use such as local/home networks and internet sharing.
 GPS & SNS

GPS

A GPS navigation device is any device that receives Global Positioning System(GPS) signals for the purpose of determining the device's current location on Earth. GPS devices provide latitude and longitude information, and some may also calculate altitude, although this is not considered sufficiently accurate or continuously available enough to rely on exclusively to pilot aircraft. GPS devices are used in military, aviation, marine and consumer product applications.

GPS devices may also have additional capabilities such as:
  • Contains all types of maps.
  • Provides direction for people in vehicle.
  • providing directions directly to an autonomous vehicle such as a robotic probe
  • Provides information about the statues of traffic.
  • Providing information about nearby shops, restaurants, fuel stations  ...etc.

SNS

SNS are commonly found in new cars, while GPS is found anywhere: phone, internet, computer, portable devices and many more.
Because GPS is portable, it allows to go anywhere in the World and not worry about being lost. Another advantage is not having to worry about following the wrong road as well as finding roads which have less traffic/construction.

Portable Devices

My opinion about portable entertainment devices like DVD , they have many advantages and disadvantages , just like every other device and they are :
Portable entertainment devices, such as: Mp 3 or DVD-players, which allow people to listen to music or watch films, are now commonplace. What do you think are the main advantages and disadvantages of this development?

Advantages: People use these modern techniques everywhere and any time because they are portable, compact and may contain a lot of info compared with diskettes or tape recording

Disadvantages: they cause sometimes incidents and they cause back pain for sitting hours on them , another thing is that they cause poor eye-sight .

To sum up, I agree that today Mp 3 or DVD-players play a great role in human's life. And these easy movable techniques have both advantages and disadvantages. However, I think that there are more merits than demerits.

Mobile phones

A mobile phone is a device that can make and receive telephone calls over a radio link whilst moving around a wide geographic area. It does so by connecting to a cellular network provided by a mobile phone operator, allowing access to the public telephone network. By contrast, a cordless telephone is used only within the short range of a single, private base station.

Feature of mobile phones :
  • A battery.
  • An input mechanism to allow the user to interact with the phone.
  • Basic mobile phone services to allow users to make calls and send text messages.
  • All GSM phones use a SIM card to allow an account to be swapped among devices. Some CDMA devices also have a similar card called an R-UIM.
